First the White House told us that Henry Foster had performed only one abortion. That figure was quickly revised to ``fewer than a dozen.'' The latest reinvention by the White House is 39 ``therapeutic abortions.'' (The term ``therapeutic abortion'' is pro-abortion doublespeak. These abotions neither heal nor cure; they violently destroy human life.)
In 1981, Foster was in charge of a clinical study on an early version of the prostaglandin abortion-inducing pill. The study was conducted on 60 women, which resulted in the chemically induced deaths of at least 55 more unborn children. And according to a 1978 transcript released by the International Foundation for Genetic Research, Foster was quoted as saying, ``I have done a lot of amniocentesis and therapeutic abortions, probably near 700.''
A surgeon general should be capable of inspiring and uniting Americans on a broad range of public health issues - not dividing them, which seems to be the hallmark accomplishment of Bill and Hillary Clinton thus far. Surely Dr. Foster's background, character, credibility and the White House's mishandling of his nomination render him incapable of achieving this goal.
The nomination of Henry Foster, abortionist and devotee of Planned Parenthood, America's leading abortion provider, to the position of surgeon general is yet another example of the out-of-touch insensitivity and arrogance of the Clinton administration.
His nomination should be emphatically rejected by the Senate.First the White House told us that Henry Foster had performed only one abortion.
