William Bernard Pierce Sr. died May 1, 1995.
Upon graduation from Windsor High School, he served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army. He graduated from the University of Richmond in 1950. He retired in 1989 after more than 37 years with the 3M Company.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Blackburn Pierce; five children, William B. Pierce Jr., Beverly P. Dodge and son-in-law Jeffrey Dodge, Stephen C. and daughter-in-law Catherine Pierce, and Michael T. Pierce, all of Richmond, and David J. Pierce of Virginia Beach; brother, W.L. Pierce Jr. of Suffolk; sister, Kathleen P. Jones of Smithfield, Va.; and also three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight in the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11 p.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church. Interment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Children's Hospital, 2924 Brook Road, Richmond, Va. 23222. Woody Funeral Home in charge.
