Helen Pierce Simms, 67, of the 18000 block of Sedley Road, died Tuesday, May 2, 1995, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Simms was a native of Hopewell, Va., and was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Lee Francis Pierce. She was the widow of Marvin E. Simms. Mrs. Simms was retired from private-duty nursing and was a member of Sedley Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Simms and his wife, Carol, of Franklin, and Douglas Simms of Richmond; four sisters, Willie Louis Harris of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Faye Smith of Houston, Texas, Lois Gates of Sedley, and Effie Jones of Nags Head, N.C.; one granddaughter, Amy Simms Everette; and one great-granddaughter, Alexandria Everette.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 1995, at Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. David Johnson. The family will receive friends at Mr. and Mrs. Edward Simms, 225 North Drive, Franklin, Va. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, Va., Wright Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
