The Yorktown Naval Weapons Station will cut 232 civilian jobs from its 1,028-member work force effective Sept. 15 in a planned reduction in force announced earlier this year.
In addition, 42 people will be assigned to other positions at their current grade levels and 53 will be assigned to positions involving reductions in grade.
The reductions are part of an overall loss of 1,600 positions at Navy ordnance centers nationwide.
Official notices are scheduled to be mailed to employees by May 15. Between now and Sept. 15, voluntary retirement programs could reduce the number of people affected, officials said.
