HARVEY A. LANKFORD

Harvey Andrew Lankford Jr., 71, of the 21000 block of Sedley Road, died Tuesday, May 2, 1995, at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Lankford was a native of Southampton County and was the son of the late Harvey A. and Bertha Blythe Lankford. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Franklin Baptist Church and its Bruner Bible Class. Mr. Lankford, a farmer, was the owner of Dixie Plant Farms. He was a former president of the Franklin Lions Club. He was a member of the Charles R. Younts American Legion Post 73 and the Virginia Tech Hokie Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Matthews Lankford; three daughters, Nancy L. Hargroves of Richmond, Linda M. Lankford of East Windsor, N.J., and K. Elaine Lankford of Virginia Beach; two sons, Harvey A. (Drew) Lankford III of Virginia Beach and Bradley Martin Lankford of Sedley; two sisters, Gladys L. Wills of Franklin and Audrey J. Lankford of Richmond; one brother, Burnley H. Lankford of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren, Megan Hargroves, Herbert Hargroves Jr., Alicyn Hargroves, Andrew Hargroves, Katelyn Lankford, J.R. Withers, and Tara Withers.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, May 5, 1995, at the Franklin Baptist Church by Dr. Roy DeBrand. The family will receive friends at the residence and suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, or the Children's Center, Franklin. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
