Dr. Merle Bland Dudley, 66, departed this life Tuesday, May 2, 1995.
He was the son of the late Harry Roy and Merle Garrett Dudley. He received the Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in 1954, and the Doctorate of Philosophy from Glasgow University in 1973.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Dudley; one son, Carter Bland Dudley of Richmond; one daughter, Jane Merle Dudley of Tappahannock; and one brother, Harry Roy Dudley Jr. of Norfolk.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Christ Church, Irvington, Va. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Flowers are appreciated, but those who wish to make a gift may give to the Foundation for Historic Christ Church.
