Leosia Pierce Green, widow of Deacon Samuel L. Green Sr., died Tuesday, May 2, 1995, at Sentara Hampton General Hospital.
A native of Halifax, N.C., she moved to the Peninsula from Norfolk to join her family, after retiring as a silk presser from Whiteway Cleaners. She supervised The Workman's Delight Family Restaurant's Bakery and was noted for ``Momma Green's Rolls and Pasteries.'' As a devoted member of St. John Church of God in Christ, she served faithfully with the Hospitality Committee and Missionary Board. She enjoyed traveling and sponsored many bus excursions.
She is survived by her son, Bishop Samuel L. Green Jr.; two daughters-in-law, Vivian and Juanita; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson; plus a host of other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John Church of God in Christ, 2416 Orcutt Ave., Newport News. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday in Cooke Brothers Funeral Chapel, and two hours prior to the service at the church. Assemble at 41 St. John Drive, Hampton, by 10 a.m. Saturday.
