Arthur R. Aguiar, 73, of the 5800 block of Azalea Garden Road, a retired maintenance supervisor, died May 3, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mr. Aguiar was born in Fall River, Mass., and was a Catholic. He was retired from the Norfolk City School Board. He also retired from the Navy after 20 years and was a veteran of World War II and a member of Fleet Reserve Branch (NU)60.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Aguiar; six daughters, Janet Aguiar of Norfolk, Eva Barnett of Gulf Shores, Ala., Betty Segarra of El Paso, Texas, Brenda Aguiar of Norfolk, Nancy Tubbs of Shreveport, La., and Donna Thornton of Norfolk; a son, Joseph R. Aguiar of Chesapeake; a sister, Helen Petersen of Portsmouth, R.I.; and seven grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery with military honors by the Rev. James Bradshaw. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
