WILLIE L. COOPER

Willie Lee Cooper, of the 700 block of Gust Lane, died Tuesday, May 2, 1995, in his home.

He was a native of Southampton County and was a retired shipping clerk from the Norfolk Naval Base. He was a member of Mt. Gilead African Methodist Episcopal Church, Franklin, where he served as a Steward and Church Treasurer. He was also a member of St. Luke Lodge (NU)279 IBPOE of W. Franklin, Sunbeam Masonic No. 118, Newsoms, Va., and American Legion Post No. 183, Franklin.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary L. Cooke of Portsmouth; one son, Jamie A. Warford, of Portsmouth; three sisters, Lois Rose, Etta Parker, both of Franklin, and Bernice Roane of Kinsale, Va.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Gilead A.M.E. Church, Franklin, by the Rev. Andre' Jefferson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A Wake Service will be held Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. Remains will be in the church at noon Sunday. Family will receive friends in the home of Lois Rose, 313 Delk St., Franklin, Va., and the home of the deceased at 703 Gust Lane, Portsmouth. Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
