Ida Rose Phipps Bender, 77, of the 3600 block of Lilac Drive, died May 5, 1995, in Norfolk.
Mrs. Bender, a native of Middleburg, N.C., was the widow of John A. Bender. She was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Ann Diener of Kailua, Hawaii, Rebecca Jean Wade of Juneau, Alaska, and Charlotte Rose Bender of Gates, N.C.; a son, John Alfred Bender Jr. of Portsmouth, Va.; a sister, Doris Brooks of Norfolk, Va.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 8, at 11 a.m., by the Rev. Daniel R. Falck, in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, Suffolk. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to King of Kings Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, Va. 23435.
