William L. Burden, 72, formerly of Norcum Circle, a retired rigger, died April 30, 1995, in Maryland.
Mr. Burden was born in Rocky Mount, N.C., and was the widower of Rena B. Burden. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 34 years and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Cassandra B. Bain of Maryland and Deborah L. Thomas of Chesapeake; a son, Chester L. Burden of Kansas; five sisters, Martha Jackson and Wilhelmina Randolph, both of Massachusetts, Nannie Boyd, Velma Parks, Dorothy Hinton, all of Portsmouth; three brothers, Thelonious Burden of North Carolina, Orlando Burden of Portsmouth and Joe Burden of Delaware; three granddaughters, Tracey, Annysia and Brandace; two stepgrandchildren, Regina and Robert; a daughter-in-law, D. Marie Burden; a son-in-law, Wilbur Thomas. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Henry F. Banks; a granddaughter, Tameeka Tyrail; and a son-in-law, Thomas Bain.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Fisher Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronnie T. Northam Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will assemble for the processional at 1507 Carson Crescent E., Portsmouth.
