GET A JOB? NOT SO EASY

In response to Bob Timm's ``Redistribute Wealth: Get a Job'' (letter, May 2):

My husband has been responding to the ads in the Sunday Business section of The Virginian-Pilot at about three to four a week since January. While my husband has had several interviews, he has lost positions to higher-level managers who are finding themselves in the same position as my husband - victims of corporate cutbacks.

My husband wants to work. He would love to find a job that would be both rewarding and enjoyable. Yes, plenty of jobs are available, but the competition is so strong that actually landing a job, any job, is an accomplishment.

If Mr. Timm ventures into the market, he will find the same results many others have found. There are plenty of ``jobs'' out there, but I would challenge him to pay for day care for two children and contribute financially to a household by working at minimum wage.
