Tyler Brown, a senior at First Colonial High, plays a drunken driver
just involved in a ``head-on collision.''
First Colonial High students evoke a myriad of emotions as they
watch the performance by classmates, police and rescue personnel.
Students got a hard-hitting look at the consequences of drinking and
driving last week at First Colonial High School when the Virginia
Beach Rescue squad delivered a scary message via a simulated head-on
collision in the school stadium. Police, fire and rescue personnel
were on hand to rescue and treat students in the multiple fatality.
Rescuers used the Jaws of Life to release pinned victims. Student at
the school were given a break from classes to watch as ``critically
injured'' classmates were treated or pronounced dead and covered
with sheets. Similar programs are being presented in other high
schools in the city to promote Prom Promise, a program which
encourages students not to drink and drive on prom night.
