Herbert Edward Porter, 75, of the 1000 block of Rugby St., died May 5, 1995, in Norfolk General Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Mrs. Nellie M. Porter.
Survivors include four daughters, Nellie Wood, Gail Burke, Rosa Harris and Mary Bowser of Norfolk; a son, William Larry Porter of Norfolk; four brothers, Melvin Goodson, Frank Goodson, Sidney Goodson and Herbert Goodson; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday at Union Chapel AME Church by the Rev. Clifton R. Wilson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A wake service will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hale Funeral Home.
