Royce T. Swain, 79, of the 800 block of Gates Ave., died May 7, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Swain was a native of Elizabeth City, N.C., and a resident of Norfolk for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his son, Royce T. Swain Jr. He retired from The Beech Nut Corporation in 1970 after 20 years as a Virginia District Supervisor and more recently from the Norfolk Police Department in 1981 as a dispatcher. He was a member and Elder Emeritus of The Second Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. He was a member and past worshipful master of the George W. Wright Mason Lodge, 346.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nell Rose Swain; two sisters, Florine Weirs of Norfolk and Janet Hargis of Tasley, Va.; and six grandchildren, David Paul Swain of Richmond, Allan Hamann of Virginia Beach, Michael Hamann of Tappahannock, Wendy Mintz of Oakton, and Douglas Hamann of Alexandria.
A church service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Second Presbyterian Church of Norfolk by the Rev. Steven Frazier. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donor's choice. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
