Bertie Davis Brown, 92, of the 1800 block of Elbow Road, died Saturday, May 6, 1995, in the Chesapeake Health Care Center.
Mrs. Brown was born in Old Norfolk County and was the daughter of the late Charlie E. and Mrs. Bertie Murden Davis and widow of Cecil H. Brown. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she had served as secretary of the church for many years.
She is survived by one sister, Vinnie Davis Butt of Chesapeake; two nieces, Alma H. Ashley and Linda D. Sawyer and one nephew, Dr. W. Stanley Jennings, all of Chesapeake.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 1995, in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery on Elbow Road by the Rev. John Dearing and the Rev. Chip Roberson. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7 until 8 p.m. in Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge. The family will be at the home of her sister, Mrs. Vinnie Davis Butt, at 1917 Elbow Road. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Bethel Baptist Church, 1832 Elbow Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23320.
