ILLUSTRATION: On Sunday, Hampton Roads communities celebrated the Earth and

community pride. In Portsmouth, residents united to clean up Scotts

Creek. And in downtown Norfolk, residents marked the 25th

to clean up a section of the creek.

World in Virginia Beach. The Eco-Fashion Show at Town Point Park in

Norfolk featured clothes made of organic cotton and recycled

materials. Though Earth Day actually was April 22, Norfolk and

Virginia Beach observe it on the first Sunday in May because of the

weather.
