Joseph Jordan ``J.J.'' Sexton, 80, of Route 1, died Monday, May 8, 1995, in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
Mr. Sexton was born in Tyrrell County, N.C. He was the retired owner and operator of County Market located at Eason's Crossroads. He was a member of Winton United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Anne Mathias Sexton; one daughter, Jo Anne Slaughter of Virginia Beach; one son, Don Sexton of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Eloise Vinson of Murfreesboro, Hazel Cowan of Hopewell and Mildred Stallings of Louisburg; two brothers, Charles Sexton of Hampton, Va., and Wallace Sexton of Winton; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Sexton of Chesapeake.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home by the Rev. Ric Durham and the Rev. Bob Skeens. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
