William Edward Credle, 69, of the 1000 block of Albert Ave., died Sunday, May 7, 1995, in DePaul Medical Center.
A native of Hyde County, N.C., Mr. Credle was a retired heavy duty truck driver for the Naval Public Works Center and was also retired from the Norfolk Public Schools in the Building and Grounds Department at Suburban Park and Camp Elmo Elementary. He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and was active in many phases of the life of the church, including the Board of Deacons, Male Usher Board, teacher for the Men's Bible Class and an adviser for the Missionary Board. He was an Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Credle of the home; a daughter, Florida B. Cooper of Norfolk; three sisters, Lossie Green of Swan Quarter, N.C., Naomi Sanford of Memphis, Tenn., and Mary Wright of Virginia Beach; a brother, Roland Credle of Swan Quarter; a grandchild, Capt. Timothy E. Cooper of Fort Rucker, Ala.; and a great-grandson, Calvin T. Cooper.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. I. Joseph Williams. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Thursday. The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
