A blaze that spread through five apartments Monday caused more than
$100,000 damage to a Lake Edward complex, Virginia Beach fire
officials said. It was the second major fire in the neighborhood in
a week. No one was hurt in Monday's fire in the 700 block of
Atterbury Court, said fire spokesman Chase Sargent. The fire started
in one apartment and moved to the others through the attic areas, he
said. A man from the nearby Campus East section was charged with
interfering with firefighters and driving over a hose. Last
Wednesday, an electrical fire on Dodington Court badly damaged two
townhouses. The fires were not related.
