La Vaughan J. Banks, 42, of the 3300 block of Goldenoaks Lane, died May 8, 1995.
He was born in Portsmouth and was a former member of Third Baptist Church in Portsmouth. He was employed with the Department of Highways for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Curley M. Banks; two daughters, Asia V. Banks of Chesapeake and Kimberly Stith of Portsmouth; two sons, Jeffery Stith of Virginia Beach and Tracie Reid of Portsmouth; his mother, Doris Ruffin and stepfather, Louis Ruffin of Portsmouth; a sister, Azalea Washington of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth, with the Rev. Joe B. Fleming, Pastor, officiating and the Rev. Leo Whitaker assisting. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will assemble there for the processional. Fisher Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is handling arrangements.
