Pier fishing from Kitty Hawk to Nags Head was fair Tuesday.
Anglers on Kitty Hawk Pier caught two- to three-pound speckled trout and small blues on bucktails during the morning close to the beach. Small bottom fish were taken during the remainder of the day.
Lots of small bluefish and a few speckled trout were caught on Avalon Pier.
Nags Head Pier reported small blues and speckled trout. Anglers on Jennette's Pier caught small blues and several speckled trout during the morning.
Some very small blues, a few speckled trout, small spot and pigfish were landed sporadically throughout the day on the Outer Banks Pier.
A large ground swell held action to a minimum on Hatteras Island. Rodanthe Pier reported a few sea mullet and blues landed.
Fishing on Avon Pier was slow. But Frisco Pier anglers caught some tailor bluefish and lots of gray trout.
Surf fishing along the northern beaches was slow Tuesday. On Hatteras Island, some sea mullet were taken by anglers fishing along the beach from Salvo to Avon.
At Cape Point, a few blues, sea mullet and keeper flounder were landed. No drum were caught there Monday night.
Bluewater fishing southeast of Oregon Inlet was fair, with some yellowfin tuna and scattered dolphin taken.
One blue marlin was released by the ``Fighting Lady.'' The headboat ``Miss Oregon Inlet'' caught some small blues around Oregon Inlet.
Hatteras offshore fishing was good, with scattered tuna, gaffer dolphin and wahoo appearing in catches. Charter releases included six white marlin and two blue marlin.
If the Wednesday forecast of southwest winds holds true, drum fishing should be good tonight.
The water temperature at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pier in Duck was 58.5 degrees Tuesday. by CNB
