JAMES R. HARDIN JR.

James R. ``Yogi'' Hardin Jr., 58, a retired FBI agent, died May 9, 1995.

Mr. Hardin was a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps serving as a company commander of an infantry company in Vietnam. He was a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where he was captain of the football team and a three time Little All American.

Mr. Hardin is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia Hardin of Smithfield; two daughters, Pamela H. Leal of Allen, Texas, and Valerie Hardin of Carey, N.C.; two grandchildren; six nieces and nephews and a host of friends and associates he motivated and inspired by example.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, in Christ Episcopal Church, Smithfield, by the Rev. William Lantz. The family will receive friends in the parish hall after the service and suggest memorial contributions may be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, Va. 23431. Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, is handling arrangements.
