John William Miller, 78, of the 5000 block of Mayflower Road, a retired superintendent of Lamberts Point Docks Inc., died May 10, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mr. Miller, a native of Boonsboro, Md., was a longtime member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. He was a past president of the Hampton Roads Traffic Club and a member the Optimist Club. He served in the Army during World War II after graduating from the University of Maryland, class of 1939.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred P. Miller; two daughters, Sue M. Long of Poquoson, Va., Betsy M. Chipman of Virginia Beach; a son, J. William Miller Jr. of Asheville, N.C.; four granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Fredrick C. Sanner. The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Knox Presbyterian Church Choir or to a charity of the donor's choice.
