Hazel Brinn Ewell, wife of Retired Army Colonel James T. Ewell Jr., departed this life May 9, 1995, after a long illness with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 54 1/2 years, two sisters, Rachel Brinn Bonney and Lillian Brinn Robinson, both of Norfolk, and one brother, Benjamin Franklin Brinn of Norfolk.
Mrs. Ewell came to Fort Monroe as a bride, March 2, 1940. She came back to Fort Monroe in 1962 and has been a resident of Hampton since 1969. She was a graduate of Maury High School Class of 1934 and attended Harrisonburg State Teachers College and Southeastern University of Washington, D.C. She was a lifelong member of the Park Place Baptist Church in Norfolk and attended the Chapel of the Centurion at Fort Monroe. She was a member of the Norfolk Chapter (NU)22, Order of Eastern Star and the Officers and Civilian Wives Club of Fort Monroe.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, May 13, 1995, in the Chapel of the Centurion, Fort Monroe by Chaplain (LTC) Arthur F. Jensen and Chaplain (MAJ) James E. Rayburn. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Peninsula Rescue Mission, 3700 Huntington Ave., Newport News, 23607.
