Vivian L. Richardson Byrd, 83, of the 1100 block of Richmond Ave., died May 8, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mrs. Byrd was born in Louisburg, N.C. She was a member of New First Baptist Church Taylorsville and its Nurses Unit and was head cook for Meals for the Homeless for New First Baptist Church Taylorsville. She was the widow of Evander Byrd.
Survivors include six daughters, Mary E. Randall, Alice Williams, Barbara Royster, Vivian Young and Regina Richardson, all of Portsmouth, and Miranda Coles of Atlanta, Ga.; three sons, Leonard Richardson and Lionel Richardson, both of Portsmouth, and John Richardson of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Alice Allen of Baltimore; 44 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at New First Baptist Church Taylorsville, Portsmouth, by the Rev. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at noon Friday.
