DRUG ARRESTS MADE

DRUG ARRESTS MADE: Dare County authorities have arrested two more suspects as part of an ongoing undercover operation aimed at stopping street-level crack cocaine sales.

Earlier this week, sheriff's deputies arrested 40-year-old Pearline B. Betts and 27-year-old Loomis R. Spruill, both of Manteo.

Betts was arrested Monday night and charged with one count of sale and delivery of cocaine, and one count of possession of cocaine with the intent to sell and deliver. She was released on $3,000 bond.

Spruill is charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, and two counts of sale and delivery of the substance.

Spruill was taken into custody Monday night, and released on $6,000 bond.

Seven arrests have been made in connection with an ongoing investigation being carried out by local authorities and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Dare County Sheriff A.L. ``Bert'' Austin said more arrests are coming.
