ARLINGTON COMPANY BUYS LOCAL SHIP-REPAIR FIRM

Portsmouth-based Earl Industries Inc. was sold Tuesday to Digital Systems Research Inc., Jerrold Miller, Earl's president and former owner, said on Thursday. Earl Industries, which employs about 330 people, is a ``down-river'' ship-repair company that works without a waterfront yard. Miller said the change is in ownership only and that Earl will continue to do business in Hampton Roads as it has for the past 10 years. Arlington-based DSR is a diversified engineering services firm with both government and private clients, he said. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. by CNB
