ROBERT C. DARBY

Robert Chessar Darby a retired self-employed produce dealer and farmer, died May 12, 1995, in his home, of carcinoma.

Mr. Darby, a native of Assawoman, was the son of the late Bernice Tull and Harry Darby. He was a member of Assawoman United Methodist Church, Temperanceville Masonic Lodge (NU)121, AF & AM, and Pocomoke BPO Elks (NU)1624. He served on the Adv. Board of Taylor Bank, was past director of Bank of Virginia, past director of Broadwater Academy and supervisor of Atlantic District.

Survivors include his wife, Marietta B. Darby; two sons, Fred Darby and Steve Darby, both of Assawoman; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Assawoman United Methodist Churchyard Cemetery by the Rev. Richard Bettone. Fox Funeral Home, Temperanceville, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broadwater Academy or Assawoman United Methodist Church.
