Administrators, alumni and faculty members packed a dinner Friday night at Norfolk State University to help President Harrison B. Wilson celebrate his 20th anniversary as president of NSU.
``The top floor of the main ballroom in the dining hall was sold out,'' said Gerald D. Tyler, director of university relations.
As of Tuesday, 500 people had confirmed reservations, but the university expected nearly 700 attendees at $50 a plate for the dinner in the Dozier Dining Hall.
Actor and NSU alumnus Tim Reid, along with his wife, actress Daphne Maxwell-Reid, hosted the ceremony.
Proceeds will go toward the Harrison B. Wilson Endowed Scholarship Fund.
Community leaders and former governors highlighted Wilson's service to NSU with a different twist, along the lines of ``This is Your Life.''
NSU will hold its annual Alumni Banquet tonight, and commencement exercises will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Scope. by CNB
