GLORIA E. FERGUSON

Gloria Lee East Ferguson, age 69, of Route 1, Sunbury, North Carolina, died May 12, 1995, at the residence of her daughter on Drexel Circle, Virginia Beach, Va. She was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, March 23, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Walker Louis East Sr. and Margurite Gertrude Sage East. Mrs. Ferguson was the loving wife of Donald Edward ``Fergie'' Ferguson, who survives. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian and attended the First Presbyterian Church.

She had worked for the Salvation Army as a clerical supervisor in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Savannah, Georgia. Gloria loved religion, art, politics, gardening and giving to others. She gave of her time and support to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Her talents, skills and most of all her love will be missed by her family and a host of friends.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter; Patti Lee Ferguson of Virginia Beach, Va.: three sons, Donald Edward Ferguson Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; David Walker Ferguson of Sunbury, N.C.; Timothy Wayne Ferguson and daughter-in-law, Peggy Richardson Ferguson and their two daughters, Lisa and Maria Ferguson of Granbury, Texas; one sister, Joy Jones of Colonial Heights, Va.; two brothers, Walker Louis East Jr. of Arlington, Va., Larry East of Greensboro, N.C., and was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Joseph Ferguson and Ted Alexander Ferguson.

Graveside services will be held in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to the Salvation Army. The Family will receive friends at the Twiford's Colonial Chapel Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. Twiford Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel at 929 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
