GEORGIA N. LOCKWOOD

Georgia Newman Lockwood, 76, widow of the late Charles Archinard Lockwood, cherished mother and grandmother, passed from this life on Friday, May 12, 1995, at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital in Norfolk.

Mrs. Lockwood, born in New Orleans, La., on Nov. 14, 1919, was the daughter of the late Louise Benzel and Dwight Newman. Mrs. Lockwood resided for 32 years as a homemaker in Zion, Ill., and was a member of Our Lady of Humility Catholic Parish, Zion, Ill.

Survivors who will miss her dearly include three daughters, Louise A. Dickerson of Virginia Beach, Elyce M. Lcokwood-Robinson of Memphis, Tenn. and Brenda P. Gibbs of St. Albans, N.Y.; a son, Charles D. Lockwood of Chicago; three sons-in-law; nine grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Martin of Kenner, La.; a brother, Alvin Newman of San Francisco, Calif.; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Of her siblings that preceded her in death are jazz trumpeter Joe Newman.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 18, 1995 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Bradshaw and Range Funeral Home, Zion, Ill. A funeral Mass will be held May 19, 1995, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Catholic Parish, Zion, Ill. Interment will be at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, Ill. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Norfolk, handled local arrangements.
