Joan Kissam Hakes of Woodford Street died May 16, 1995, in her residence.
Mrs. Hakes was born in Corning, N.Y., and was Catholic. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel Francis Kissam. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Fleet Reserve Association Unit (NU)60.
Survivors include her husband, William D. Hakes; a daughter, Donna E. Hager of Norfolk; three sons, John D. Kissam of Chesapeake, David E. Kissam of Dallas, Texas, and Michael A. Kissam of Debary, Fla.; three sisters, Sarah A. Bryant of Dandy, Va., Martha H. Good of Las Vegas and Dorothy I. Mariotti of New Baltimore, Mich.; two brothers, John J. Fitzpatrick of New Haven, Mich., and Daniel L. Fitzpatrick of Chesapeake; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by Father Lou Ruoff. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
