I would like to point out certain facts regarding Regent University's response to ADL concerns raised relative to the Regent University student editorial mentioned in Roberta Baker's ``Why some people might think Pat's an anti-Semite'' (Another View, May 3):
When the Anti-Defamation League contacted Regent regarding the offensive editorial which appeared in the student newspaper, the university provost responded by stating that the university administration was ``embarrassed and appalled by the editorial.' He emphasized that ``it in no way represents the thinking of Regent University.'' Shortly thereafter, the editor of the publication stepped down.
Since then, the ADL and Regent have convened interfaith seminars on the Regent campus aimed at deepening understanding and mutual respect. Just recently, ADL joined with students and faculty of Regent for an Interfaith Passover Seder.
The ongoing dialogue between our two communities would not have taken place were it not for the unfortunate editorial. Regent University and the ADL were able to work together in addressing this matter by sharing our concerns in a positive and open manner.
