Lisa Chandler is president of the Norfolk City Union of The King's Daughters, an organization that owned and operated the children's hospital for a number of years.
``The organization goes back almost a hundred years,'' Chandler said. ``We still participate heavily in the hospital, but our focus is primarily fund-raising for the hospital.''
One of the organization's next fund-raising events is selling Harborfest T-shirts during the festival next month.
In addition to her volunteer work, Chandler is the mother of two daughters and executive vice president of Nancy Chandler Associates, a family business. Her mother-in-law is Nancy Chandler and her husband, Web, is president of the business.
When she was born in Africa, Chandler's father was in the Air Force ``so we traveled around quite a bit.'' In addition to Africa, she lived in Germany, California, Colorado, and Georgia - all before the age of 12. She has lived in Virginia since then.
