ROBERT N. SIMPSON

Robert N. Simpson, 60, of Southbrook Drive, died Wednesday evening, May 10, 1995, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., after a short illness.

For the past 18 years, he lived in Claremont, and was a Claremont native. For 20 years, Mr. Simpson served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1976. While stationed he graduated from Naval Flight School. In 1968, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross; and the Air Medal and Navy Commendation Medal during the Vietnam era. After returning to Claremont, he became Claremont District Court clerk on June 29, 1982. He was born in Claremont on May 20, 1934, the son of Robert and Beatrice (Nolin) Simpson. On December 28, 1957, he married Joan McIlvaine.

Survivors include his wife, Joan, of Claremont; three daughters, Tari Simpson of Norfolk, Mrs. John (Sara) Mulvihill of New Hartford, N.Y., and Mrs. Ron (Beth) Bohon of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Robert S. Simpson of Sunapee, N.H., and Mitchell N. Simpson of Troy, Maine; his mother and stepfather, Beatrice and John Goggin of Claremont, N.H.; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Beryl) Solow of Wilder, Vt.; five grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 172, Claremont, N.H. 03743; or to Boys & Girls Committee of Kiwanis, 281 Washington Street, Claremont, N.H. 03743.
