Charles Bernard Dailey, 77, of the 7000 block of Wellford Road, died Tuesday, May 16, 1995, in Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
He was born in Norfolk County and was a resident of Gloucester County for 11 years. He was retired from the Naval Air Systems Command and was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. He was a racing pigeon enthusiast for many years and also enjoyed creating stained glass lamps. During World War II he served as an engineer sailing for American Export Lines. He served an apprenticeship at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and graduated as a journeyman machinist.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Dailey; three daughters, Anna Marie Gierman of Norfolk, Angela D. Manning of Arlington, Va., and Gloria R. Visel of Winnebago, Ill.; two sisters, Gloria Wiggins and Dorothy Petrulis, both of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Ernest Dailey and John Dailey, both of Norfolk and Horace Dailey of Virginia Beach; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Therese Catholic Church by Father John E. Ridgell. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. Andrew's Funeral Home, Gloucester, is in charge. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. G.
