The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has found a new site for its $8 million executive education center - to the relief of neighbors of the Kenan-Flagler Business School.
The announcement came in a statement Tuesday from Chancellor Paul Hardin and Paul Fulton, dean of the business school.
The Paul J. Rizzo Executive Education Conference Center will be built on the Baity property, a UNC-owned tract between the Smith Center and the Family Physicians Center, instead of property near the Kenan Center.
The new site won't have as much impact on nearby residents. And the university will not have to seek rezoning of buffer land that protects the neighborhood.
Town leaders and neighbors were outraged by the news last month that the university had threatened to condemn the home of distinguished biochemistry professor Richard Wolfenden and his wife, Anita. by CNB
