William Lewis ``Doc'' Brown, 50, of the 600 block of Walnut St., died Thursday, May 18, 1995, at his home.
Mr. Brown was a native of Franklin and was a retired mail carrier. He was a former assistant manager of the Pro Shop at Cypress Cove Country Club. He attended Chowan College and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Brown was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Lillie C. Brown; three sisters, Ruth B. Baker and her husband, James of Elwood City, Pa., Helen B. Joyner of Suffolk and Betty B. Garrison of Charlottesville; two brothers, Earl Russell Brown Jr. and his wife, Frances of Norfolk, Robert J. Brown and his wife, Jean of Franklin; nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown was predeceased by his father, Earl Russell Brown Sr., and a sister, Juanita B. Cross.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sycamore Baptist Church by the Rev. Reginald Warren. Mr. Brown's ashes will be buried at the church cemetery at a later date. The family suggests, that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sycamore Baptist Church Building Fund, 32018 Sycamore Church Road, Franklin, Va. 23851. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
