Stockton Elliott Wright Sr., 76, of 310 Red Point Drive, died May 17, 1995, at his residence.
He was a native of Appomattox County and retired in 1982 as a shipping supervisor from ITT Gwaltney after 41 years.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Smithfield German Club, American Legion, George F. Dashiell Post 49, and a charter member of the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn Holcombe Wright; one daughter, Dawn Ann Wright Griffin and her husband, James, of Carrollton, Va. He was preceded in death by his son, Stockton Elliott Wright Jr., and is survived by his daughter-in-law, Betsy Wright Rhodes of Virginia Beach; and four grandchildren, Luke and Caroline Wright, Elliott Griffin and Jordannah Rhodes.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Smithfield, by the Rev. Jay Ashby. Burial will be in St. Luke's Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 210 Cedar St., Smithfield, Va. 23430, or the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 117, Smithfield, Va. 23430.
