JOHN R. BREATHWAITE

John Rodney Breathwaite of the 500 block of Providence Road, died May 17, 1995.

Mr. Breathwaite was born in Princess Anne County and was retired from the U.S. Navy and International Longshoreman's Association (NU)1248. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, the Trustee Board and Male Usher Board, and was past master of Masonic Lodge Ruth (NU)92.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn M. Breathwaite; four daughters, Regina Gallahan and Maude Gibson, both of Woodbridge, Va., Portia Derricks of Agoura, Calif., and Sakinah Breathwaite of Chesapeake; five sons, Phillip F. Breathwaite Sr., Larry Breathwaite, Wayne Breathwaite, all of Chesapeake, J. Rodney Breathwaite of Virginia Beach and Bobby Breathwaite of Los Angeles; two brothers, Albert Breathwaite and Curtis Breathwaite, both of Virginia Beach; 28 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Maud E. Owens of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 875 Baker Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. C.K. Jones. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
