The 13th annual Chesapeake Jubilee opens a three-day run today featuring headliners Willie Nelson, Sha Na Na and the Marshall Tucker Band.
There is no admission charge to the event, which will attract thousands to the festival grounds near Chesapeake City Park off Greenbrier Parkway.
The Marshall Tucker Band will perform tonight at 8:15 on the Main Stage. Sha Na Na will perform at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday. Willie Nelson and Family take the stage at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Local acts include Louis McGhee, the Mann Sisters and Cruzin' Coyotes. Music and variety acts are scheduled throughout the weekend on the Main Stage and Family Stage.
Amusements of America is providing the midway of carnival rides and games.
The Chesapeake 4-H club has a number of events planned for today, including a 4-H livestock show and sale.
Fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. today and Saturday.
Barbecue, shrimp baskets, crabs, gyros and a variety of other foods will be offered.
Shuttle buses to the festival grounds will be available for $2 per person round-trip at the Great Bridge Civic Center at Albemarle Drive and Shea Drive and at the former Volvo Plant behind Crossways Shopping Center. ILLUSTRATION: Graphic
