PRIVATE PLANE CRASHES

A Chesapeake man and his son walked away uninjured after their plane skidded on a wet runway and crashed through a fence, barely missing a bank.

Capt. Terry Dudash, a 45-year-old Navy officer stationed in Norfolk, was trying to land the single-engine plane at Lee Airport near Edgewater, Md., about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The plane ran through a chain-link fence and stopped near Farmers National Bank, police said.

Terry Dudash was taking his 19-year-old son, Derrick, to the Naval Academy where he is a midshipman.

Officer Randy Bell, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Police Department, said damage was limited to the fence and the plane.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
