Your recent article on Fort Norfolk, our waterfront treasure, was delightful.
That historic site has an imposing bronze marker set in stone which was placed there in 1959 by the Norfolk Chapter of the U.S. Daughters of 1812. My mother, Mrs. Elias Etheridge, was state president of that organization, which wished to honor Gen. Robert B. Taylor's heroism nearby at the Battle of Craney Island.
It was gratifying to enjoy such extensive exposure in your paper so that all of Hampton Roads could be made aware of Fort Norfolk's charms.
