Browser: generic term for programs that allow a person to

Home page: the first page of a Web site or document, an

information.
HTML: hypertext markup language, the programming code to create
links that are activated by a mouse or cursor clicked on a
highlighted word.
HTTP: hypertext transfer protocol, programming that acts as an
electronic agreement between computers that allow them to form the
Web.
Internet: the global network of computer networks.
PPP or SLIP: point-to-point protocol or serial line Internet
protocol, an agreed-upon transmission standard for packaging and
exchanging data, needed for using Web-browsing software to view
graphics.
URL: uniform resource locator, an address on the Web.
World Wide Web: an information space on the Internet, unified by
a common addressing system and distinguished by documents capable of
being linked from one computer to another.
