JOANNE G. FORTIN

Joanne G. Fortin, 42, died May 19, 1995 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Fortin was born in Dracut, Mass. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk, had been employed by Owens & Minor, Inc. of Norfolk as a clerk for five years and had been an active Girl Scout troop leader.

Survivors include her husband of 23 1/2 years, Peter Fortin; a daughter, Yvette M. Fortin of Chesapeake; a son, Cregg S. Fortin of Virginia Beach; her mother, Doris M. Gilbert of Dracut, Mass.; four sisters, Diane Chandler of Las Vegas, Nev., Elaine Plouffe and Linda Cote, both of Dracut, Mass., and Janine Chisholm of Londonderry, N.H.; a brother, Lucien ``Butch'' Gilbert of Dracut, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Lucien V. Gilbert.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Father John Dorgan. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Cemetery, East Chelmsford, Mass. Arrangements by Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall/Kempsville Chapel. The family requests that memorial donations be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 17884, Richmond, Va. 23226.
