Robert Stribling Marshall Jr., 89, died May 21, 1995, in Portsmouth.
Mr. Marshall, a native of Portsmouth, was the widower of Betsy N. Marshall. He served as director of the Alexandria (Va.) Redevelopment and Housing Authority from 1939 to 1956; served as City Manager, pro tem, of Alexandria in 1949; and retired as Facility Superintendent of Alexandria Hospital in 1977. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and was a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth M. Austin of Summerville, S.C., and Catherine M. Renner of Rockville, Md; three sisters, Mary Hobson of Richmond, Susan Timberlake of Staunton, and Myra Brush of Lexington, Va.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Brian C. Hobden. Foster Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
