VIRGIL E. MILLER

Virgil Eugene Miller, 74, of Route 2, died May 21, 1995, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital. He retired with 36 years of service from the U.S. Civil Service at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, design division. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Miller was born in Bertie County and was a member of Hickory Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge 178, the Craddock Royal Arch, Chapter 72, and a member of the Ahoskie Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine P. Miller; a stepson, Frank B. Twitty of Chapel Hill, N.C.; a sister, Beulah M. Hoggard of Powellsville, N.C.; and two brothers, H.U. Miller of Ahoskie and Henry L. Miller of Murfreesboro, N.C.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Robert May. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is handling arrangements.
