Louis Sher, 85, a former resident of Portsmouth, died May 21, 1995, in his home in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. Sher was the owner of LuSade Shop and Sport Togs. He served in the merchant marine as a young man and re-enlisted during World War II. He was an avid supporter of youth sports and activities. He was a former member of Temple Sinai.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Cain Sher; and two sons, Norman Sher and his wife, Sandra, of Portsmouth; Robert Sher and his wife, Eileen, of Potomac, Md. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Sue Ellen Kelly; Jacky Sher; Brian Sher; Lynn Sher; and Scott Sher; and three great grandchildren, Alex and Rebecca Kelly, and Dylan Sher. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sadye Barney Sher.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Olive Branch Cemetery with Rabbi Arthur Steinberg officiating. Foster Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at 3624 Shoreline Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to Hospice of Palm Beach, 7589 Lake Worth Road, Lake Worth, Fla. 33476 or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
