Dorothy Halstead Sharpe, 88, of the 100 block of Yorkshire Drive, died May 22, 1995, in a Newport News hospital.
Mrs. Sharpe was born in Portsmouth, Va., and was the widow of Thomas Gray Sharpe. She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church, Portsmouth. She was predeceased by several siblings.
Survivors include five daughters, Jacqueline S. Roberts of Faber, Va., Betty S. Sievert and Shirley S. Steele, both of Yorktown, Va., Frances S. Barber of Virginia Beach, and Mary S. Bartels of Youngsville, N.C.; one son, Thomas G. Sharpe Jr. of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Hyacinth Hoofnagle, Ailine Pendleton, and Virginia Shinn, all of Portsmouth; one brother, Vernon Halstead of Portsmouth; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Wednesday, May 24, 1995, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Charles A. Joy in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. and also at 3300 Upper Palace Green (Middle Plantation) Virginia Beach following the service. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
